The Drug That Cure All Ailments

Living in Nigeria can be fun and commuting daily from different part of the country can expose you to different kinds of things. In Lagos, it's common to see people sell goods by the road side or motor parks or even inside the yellow bus(danfo) from food items to clothes and smart phones. In my few months in Lagos, i have used different means of transportation and i have seen how individuals market their products inside the bus. The products might be inform or roots and herbs or seed(ghana seed) or chemicals that these marketers said to be cure to many ailments average Nigeria is suffering from.




It amazes me when i see people buy some of these drugs and roots but I still cannot comprehend how some of the medicines are said to cure all manners of diseases from cough to hypertension according to the marketers.

My recent experience was in a bus with a self acclaimed Doctor of sexual transmitted diseases where he talked about sexual transmitted disease and how cold affects the male organ. He also talked about other diseases as usual but as usual, by the end of his over 45 minutes talk, he brought a medicine in a weird packet. Each packet is 500 Naira and you need to buy two to complete a dosage. I have seen such drugs sold for just 200 Naira and the guy boastfully said he doesn't sell cheap and fake things which made people to trust his drugs, so he sold for fifteen people in the bus out of the eighteen passengers in that bus. He directed them to use lemon to take the drugs or the drug won't be effective and to my greatest surprise, someone asked if her 2year old baby could use it.

In conclusion, It's apparent why most people develop problems from unprescribed drugs and I believe enough awareness on drugs should be created to address the issues and dangers associated to using such multi-purpose drugs.
